MADISON, Wis. - The Purdue women's golf team finished second at the Badger Invitational on Sunday. Eighteen holes of the tournament were cancelled due to rainy conditions over the three days. The final nine holes were completed on Sunday.
The Boilermakers fired a final-round 310 and finished 11 strokes behind Michigan State. Purdue finished ahead of Big Ten foes Wisconsin, Northwestern, Illinois, Minnesota and Iowa.
The event was hosted by the University of Wisconsin and held at the University Ridge Golf Course. Nine women's and men's teams played on the par-72 course. The women's yardage was 6,025, while the men's measured 6,888.
Purdue was led by junior Beth Hermes and sophomore Onnarin Sattayabanphot who tied for fourth overall. Hermes carded a final-round 77, while Sattayabanphot shot a one-over 73.
Senior Ella Asbun tied for 13th after a final-round 80. She totaled 158 over 36 holes. Freshman Caroline Haase tied for 17th in her first collegiate event. Sophomore Becky Nelson finished 41st.
The Boilermakers are in action again on Sept. 27 and 28, when they head to Columbus, Ohio, for the Lady Northern.
