MADISON, Wis. - The Purdue women's golf team is in second place at the Badger Invitational after 27 holes. The final nine will be made up on Sunday.
The Boilermakers fired a first-round 309 and trail Michigan State by six strokes after the first round.
Play was rained out on Friday and Saturday's action was cut short due to a downpour. The tournament has been shortened to 36 holes, with the final nine being played Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
The event is being hosted by the University of Wisconsin and held at the University Ridge Golf Course. Nine women's and men's teams are playing 36 holes over three days on the par-72 course. The women's yardage is 6,025, while the men's measures 6,888.
Purdue was led by junior Beth Hermes who fired a first-round 73. She is tied for second after the first round and has a 39 after nine holes in round No. 2.
Sophomore Onnarin Sattayabanphot is tied for sixth after a 77 and 35 after nine holes in the second round.
Senior Ella Asbun is tied for 13th after a first-round 78 and a second-round 36. Freshman Caroline Haase is tied for 20th and sophomore Becky Nelson is tied for 43rd.
The Boilermakers begin the final nine holes on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. Stats will be provided on golfstat.com.
