SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Kenneth Baxter picked up All-America honors in the 200-meter dash Saturday during the final day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The junior placed seventh with a time of 20.99 seconds.
Leo Bookman of Kansas won the 200 title in 20.47 and was followed to the finish line by Hampton's Jerome Mathis (20.48) and Houston's' Stanford Routt (20.54). Bookman also won the 200 at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
Baxter has won both of his All-America titles in 2003. The New York City native placed fourth in the 200 at the national indoor championships, clocking a school-record time of 20.78.
Baxter's run completed Purdue's stay in Sacramento, where the Boilermaker men finished with seven points. Nedzad Mulabegovic placed fourth in Friday's shot put championship with a school record launch of 19.71 meters (64-8), which earned the squad five points.
