LINCOLN, Neb. - The Purdue women's golf team stormed back to a fourth place finish at the 2003 NCAA Women's Golf Central Regional Championships in Lincoln, Neb.
By placing in the top eight, the Boilermakers will advance to the 2003 NCAA Women's Golf Championships held at the Kampen Course at Purdue's Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex from May 20 to 23.
The Boilermakers fired a final-round 314 to finish with a three-day total of 926. They were in 11th place after the first two rounds. Purdue's 314 on Saturday tied for the second-lowest round of the day.
This is the fourth-straight season in which the Boilermakers have advanced to the NCAA Championships. All four of Purdue's NCAA Championships appearances have come under head coach Devon Brouse.
Purdue was led by junior Beth Hermes who tied for 24th overall. She fired a final-round 78 and carded a three-round total of 231.
Freshman Onnarin Sattayabanphot and senior Kari Damron both tied for 31st overall. Damron recorded a team-low 77 on Saturday to total a 232. Sattayabanphot fired an 80 to come in at 19 over par over the three days.
Senior Heather Suhr tied for 44th after a final-round 82. She totaled a 237 over the three rounds. Senior Heather Zielinski tied for 47th after a 238. She carded a final-round 79.
