IOWA CITY, Iowa - The No. 21 Purdue women's golf team is in ninth place after two rounds of the 2003 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships, which are being held at the at the par 73, 6,053-yard Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa.
The Boilermakers fired an opening-round 312 over the first 18 holes. They came back in the afternoon with a 317 for a first-day total of 629. Ohio State leads the tournament after a first day total of 605. Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin are all tied for second place after a score of 620.
Purdue was led by junior Beth Hermes. She fired a team-low 76 in the morning and then a 79 in the afternoon 18 holes. After one day she is tied for 13th overall with a 155.
Senior Kari Damron is tied for 21st after a first day 157. She carded a 76 in the morning round and an 81 in the afternoon. Freshman Onnarin Sattayabanphot is tied for 25th. She fired an 80 and a 78 for a first-day total of 158.
Seniors Heather Suhr and Heather Zielinski carded a 159 and a 166. Suhr is tied for 30th overall after rounds of 80 and 79. Zielinski is tied for 50th overall after scores of 85 and 81.
Freshman Emily Hindman shot a 182 on Friday. She is tied for 64th overall.
