Women's Golf Finishes Second At Lady Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf team placed second in the 2003 Lady Boilermaker Invitational, which was held at the par 72, 5,900-yard Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Boilermakers fired a final-round 297, the lowest team round of the tournament. They totaled a 905 over the two-day, three-round event. Tennessee won the event after a three-round total of 904.

The 13-team tournament featured Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Kent State, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, North Carolina State, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

Purdue was led by senior Kari Damron, who finished second overall with a three-round 220. She fired a final-round 71.

Senior Heather Suhr tied for fifth overall with a three-round 224. Junior Beth Hermes tied for 11th after a final-round 78. She carded a 228 over the weekend.

Freshman Onnarin Sattayabanphot tied for 28th overall with a 234. She carded a 75 on Sunday. Senior Heather Zielinski carded a final-round 78 and tied for 33rd overall. Freshman Emily Hindman placed 76 after a three-round 266.

The Boilermakers are in action again on April 25 to 27 at the Big Ten Championships in Iowa City.
