Purdue Men's Golf In Tenth Place At Augusta State Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Purdue men's golf team is in 10th place at the Cleveland Golf/ Augusta State Invitational in Augusta, Ga.

The Boilermakers fired a first-day 569 and trail leader, Clemson, by 17 strokes for first place. The Boilermakers fired a 283 on the first 18 holes and carded a 286 in the afternoon.

The event is being held at the par 72, 6,840-yard Forest Hills Golf Club and features ten of the nation's top-21 teams are in the event.

Purdue was led by Dustin Cone and Peter Karmis, who are both currently tied for 16th after firing a 140. Cone shot rounds of 68 and 72, while Karmis carded a 71 and 69.

The 17-team tournament features Alabama, Augusta State, Clemson, Duke, East Tennessee State, Fresno State, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, North Carolina State, North Florida, Oklahoma State, Purdue, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Play concludes Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. EST with a shotgun start.
