Men's Golf Tied For Seventh At Conrad Rehling Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team is in a tie for seventh place after the first round of play at the Conrad Rehling Alabama Spring Invitational. The Boilermakers shot a 294 on the Capstone Club Golf Course in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Friday.

Auburn is in the team lead with an even 284 on the par 71 course. Kentucky and the host Crimson Tide are tied for second, three strokes off the lead.

Senior Peter Karmis is pacing the Boilermakers, with a first-round score of 72. He is tied for 15th. Junior Ryan Barauskas is one stroke behind Karms, but seven places back. Classmate Shiv Kapur is tied for 31st with a 74, while sophomore Dustin Cone is tied for 38th with a 75. Rounding out the squad is Chris Mayson, who is tied for 51st.

Alabama's Lars Brovold and Toledo's Sean McTernan both shot 69s to lead the field of 70.

The 54-hole tournament will resume on Saturday, March 15, and will conclude on Sunday, March 16.
