Men's Golf In Fourth Place

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Purdue men's golf team is in fourth place at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The event is being held at the University of Florida Golf Course, a par-72, 6,701-yard layout.

The Boilermakers fired a first-round 283 and carded a 297 in the afternoon to total a first-day 580. Augusta State leads the tournament after a first-day 571.

Purdue was led by senior Chris Mayson, who fired a 142. He carded a 69 in the morning and a 73 in the afternoon and is tied for ninth.

Senior Peter Karmis is tied for 17th after a first-day 144. Sophomore Dustin Cone fired a 67 in the morning and is tied for 21st after a first-day 146.

Junior Shiv Kapur is tied for 39th after a 150. Junior Luke Epp carded a first-day 156 and is tied for 66th.

This is the third-straight season that the Boilermakers have played in the Gator Invitational. They finished second in last years event.

Sunday will feature 18 holes, with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. EST.
