GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Purdue men's golf team finished third at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The event was hosted by the University of Florida Golf Course, a par-72, 6,701-yard layout.
The Boilermakers fired a final-round 302 and finished the event with a three-round total of 882. Augusta State won the tournament with an 869. Host-school Florida placed second with an 872.
Purdue was led by seniors Chris Mayson and Peter Karmis, who tied for ninth place overall. Purdue was one of two schools (Florida), which had two individuals in the top 10. Karmis fired a final-round 74 and Mayson carded a 76 on Sunday as the duo totaled 218.
Junior Shiv Kapur is tied for 22nd place overall after three-round total of 223. Kapur carded a final-round 73.
Sophomore Dustin Cone tied for 37th place after a three-round 226. Cone had the lowest round of the event for the Boilermakers, after he fired a first-round 67 on Saturday.
Junior Luke Epp carded tied for 65th with a three-round 235. He fired a final-round 79.
This is the third-straight season that the Boilermakers have played in the Gator Invitational. They finished second in last years event.
The Boilermakers are in action again on Feb. 23 to 25, when they host the Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
