Diving Team Completes Day One Of Hawai'i Diving Invitational In Honolulu

HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Purdue diving team finished competition at the Hawai'i Diving Invitational on Tuesday evening. The Boilermakers were among eight schools who participated in Day One of the Hawai'i Diving Invitational at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex on the campus of the University of Hawaii (Manoa).

The meet began with the women's 1-meter board and concluded with the men's 3-meter board.

Placing for the Boilermakers, senior Heather Bachman was the top finisher in third place with 235.65 points, while classmate Carrie Dougherty was fourth with a score of 228.70. Freshman Amber Kerns finished 10th with a score of 159.60. Bachman and Dougherty finished just behind fellow Big Ten rivals KC Bunnell and Sarah Wiezorek, both of Wisconsin, as the Badgers swept first and second place.

On the men's side, junior David Hanisch finished fourth with a score of 415.70 and freshman Bob Hennessy came in eighth with 377.50 points. The University of Hawai'i swept the men's top two places with Mike Gowdy in first and Jonathan Coyle in second. Grant Brehaut of Simon Fraser University was third.
