LAS VEGAS (AP)-Ike Diogu scored 18 points and had nine rebounds to lead Arizona State past Purdue 70-53 at the Las Vegas Showdown Saturday.

Diogu went 7-of-9 from the field and was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Tommy Smith added a season-high 15 points with five assists and two blocks for the Sun Devils (6-3). Shawn Redhage added 14 points, going 4-for-4 from 3-point range.

Willie Deane led Purdue (5-3) with 21 points. The Boilermakers were held to 39.5 percent shooting from the field.

Arizona State had 16 assists to Purdue's 4, and the Sun Devils out-rebounded the Boilermakers 35-26.

Arizona State jumped to a 7-2 lead to start the game before Purdue responded with an 11-3 run for their biggest lead of the game, 13-10. The Sun Devils took the lead for good, 15-13, with 10:55 left in the first half.

The Sun Devils built their largest of the half, 37-25, with 41 seconds left. They led 37-28 at halftime.

Arizona State pulled away in the second half as Purdue never got closer than 7 points. The Sun Devils built their largest lead, 70-50, with 2:09 left.
