Women's Golf Concludes Fall Season

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Two seniors placed in the top eight as the Purdue women's golf team finished fifth at the Landfall Tradition on Sunday.

The tournament was held at the Country Club of Landfall Golf Course in Wilmington, N.C.

The Boilermakers fired a final-round 301 and totaled a 900 over the three-day event. They finished seven strokes behind tournament-champion Tulsa, which fired an 893.

Senior Heather Zielinski tied for fourth with a three-day total of 221. Zielinski fired a final-round 73. Senior Kari Damron carded a 75 on Sunday and tied for eighth place with a total of 223.

Junior Beth Hermes tied for 12th with a 224. She carded a final-round 76. Senior Heather Suhr notched a final-round 77 and finished 31st.

Junior Ella Asbun tied for 42nd after a three-round total of 239.

The event was held in conjunction with a men's tournament in which the Boilermakers' men's team finished fifth.

The Pete Dye-designed course played at a par 72 and 6,997 yards for the men and 6,067 yards for the women.

The Landfall Tradition marked the final event of the fall season for the Boilermakers, who open the spring season on Feb. 10 to 12 at the TRW Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.
