Men's Golf Finishes Fifth

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Purdue men's golf team finished fifth at the Landfall Tradition, held at the Country Club of Landfall Golf Course in Wilmington, N.C.

The Boilermakers fired a final-round 298 on Sunday and were 21 strokes behind tournament-champion Minnesota. The Boilermakers were the second-highest placing Big Ten school. Five conference members participated in the event.

Junior Shiv Kapur led the Boilermakers with a three-round total of 216. He notched a final-round 74 and tied for seventh overall.

Senior Peter Karmis, who led the tournament after the first two rounds, tied for ninth with a 217. He carded a final-round 77.

Sophomore Dustin Cone fired a final round, team-low 71 on Sunday and tied for 25th. He totaled a 225 over the three days.

Senior Chris Mayson tied for 45th after a final round 81. Freshman Roberto Krutzfeldt finished 55th after a three-round total of 242 and a final-round 76.

The event was held in conjunction with a women's tournament in which the Boilermakers participated. The women finished fifth.

The Pete Dye-designed course was playing at a par 72 and 6,997 yards for the men and 6,067 yards for the women.

The Boilermakers conclude the fall season by participating in the Hooters Match Play event at Myrtle Beach, S.C. from Nov. 8 to 10.
