Fitzpatric Ends Career at Purdue in Fine Fashion

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Ryan Fitzpatric led the way for the Purdue track and field on the last day of competition at the NCAA Championship held in Baton Rouge, La.

Fitzpatric earned All-America status on Saturday when he cleared the high jump bar at 2.18m/7-1.75. Fitzpatric's mark was sixth among a field of 18 competitors. Princeton's Tora Harris won the event with a mark of 2.25m/7-4.50.

Fitzpatric's points from the event gave the Purdue men an overall score of two points, placing the team 59th in the nation. The women's team finished 24th on the heels of Serene Ross' title in the javelin.

Host LSU's men's team edged its conference foe, Tennessee, by only seven points to claim the NCAA title. South Carolina won the women's title.

Rookie Nedzad Mulabegovic placed 11th in the shot put with a mark of 18.89m/61-11.75.
