COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Purdue men's golf team is tied for 11th place after the first round of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships in Columbus, Ohio. The first round was completed early Thursday morning as Wednesday afternoon's play was suspended at 4:26 p.m. EST due to heavy rains.

The Boilermakers, who took the course at 7:15 a.m. to conclude the first round, fired an even-par 284 and are seven strokes out of first place. Illinois and Georgia Tech are tied for the first-round lead at seven-under par.

Four Boilermakers carded even-par rounds. Big Ten Player of the Year and All-America candidate Lee Williamson was three-over after nine holes, but birdied three holes on the back nine to finish with a 71.
