WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermaker Open got underway with the Purdue track and field team turning in nice results on Friday.
Serene Ross and Nedzad Mulabegovic led the way with way with NCAA provisional marks in throwing events. Ross won the hammer with a mark of 56.64m/185-10.00, while Mulabegovic threw the shot 17.86m/58-7.25.
Kyle Orender and Robert Heise went one and two in the 10,000m run with respective times of 30:50.15 and 31:51.28.
Tiffany Britten placed second in the shot with a mark of 13.86m/45-5.75, while Lisa Davis was third in the hammer at 49.10m/161-1.00. Stephanie Lynn placed third in the 10,000m in 38:31.74.
Action resumes Saturday at 11 a.m.
