COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Purdue women's golf team finished fifth in the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in Columbus, Ohio after the final round was rained out on Sunday. The event was held at the par-72 University Scarlet Course.
Each team in the tournament had six individuals competing as opposed to the standard five. The top two scores on each team were dropped each round.
The Boilermakers fired 307 on Saturday morning and 313 in the afternoon to finish with a 620. Kent State won the event posting a 597.
Juniors Heather Zielinski and Kari Damron fired a pair of 153s and tied for 11th place. Zielinski carded a 74 on the first 18 holes and then notched a 79 on the next 18. Damron did the exact opposite with a 79 in the morning, followed by a 74 in the afternoon.
Senior Andrea Makauskas carded a 156 and tied for 23rd. Senior Christy Rittenhouse fired a 158 and tied for 30th. Senior Caroline Laurens shot a pair of 80s and tied for 41st place. Sophomore Beth Hermes recorded a 164 and tied for 59th.
The Boilermakers return to action on April 26 to 28 at the Big Ten Championships hosted by Illinois in Champaign.
