WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team fell 4-3 at No. 50 Michigan on Saturday, April 20. The loss brings the Boilermakers' record to 8-11 overall and 4-5 in the Big Ten heading into their final regular season match at Michigan State on Sunday, April 21.
The morning began with the Wolverines winning all three doubles matches for the point.
The Boilermakers needed to win four of six single spot to win the overall match. But with junior Melissa Iqbal losing at the No. 1 spot and sophomore Melissa Woods losing at the No. 3 spot, Purdue then had to win the rest of the singles matches.
Unfortunately, the Boilermakers could muster victories in just three of the final four positions and lost by one point.
Winners for Purdue were freshmen Lara Burgarello (No. 4), Shawna Zuccarini (No. 5), and Lisa Walgenbach (No. 6).
