Williamson In First Place After Two Rounds Of Kepler-Cleveland Intercollegiate

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Purdue men's golf team is in third place after the second round of the Kepler-Cleveland Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio. The event is being hosted by Ohio State and held at the University Scarlet Course.

The Boilermakers carded a second-round 289 and trail UNLV by six strokes for first place. Through two rounds, Purdue is the highest placing Big Ten school in the field with a 582.

Purdue, which is ranked 26th in the current Golfweek poll, recorded the third-best round of the day.

The Boilermakers were led by senior All-America candidate Lee Williamson, who stands in first place after a second-round 68. Williamson tied Indiana's Jeff Overton for the day's lowest score. His two-day total of 139 is four strokes better then the second-place individuals.

Freshman Dustin Cone recorded an even-par 71 and is tied for seventh place. Sophomore Shiv Kapur, who is coming off a third-place finish two weeks ago, is tied for 17th after a second-round 73.

Junior Chris Mayson is tied for 50th after a second-round 77. Senior Jason Bukowski carded a 79 and is tied for 82nd.

The final round will begin Sunday at 8:30 a.m. EDT.
