Men's Golf In Fifth After Round and Half of Action

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Purdue men's golf team is in fifth place after the first two rounds of the Johnny Owens Invitational in Lexington, Ky.. The event is being hosted by the University of Kentucky and held at the University Club.

Thunderstorms struck Lexington after a round and a half of action. To that point, the Boilermakers fired a first-day total of 294 and trail the host Wildcats by 10 strokes for first place.

Senior Lee Williamson tied for sixth with a first-day total of 71. Williamson was one of eight golfers to either meet or score under par.

Junior Chris Mayson fired a 72 (-1) on Friday and tied for ninth. Sophomore Shiv Kapur finished the day in a 15-man tie for 32nd place. Junior Peter Karmis tied for 46th, while rookie Dustin Cone sits in 70th place.

Saturday's action will begin at 7 a.m. in an attempt to complete all remaining rounds.
