Women's Golf Tied For Sixth After Second Round Of Lady Gamecock Classic

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. - The Purdue women's golf team is tied for sixth after the second round of the Lady Gamecock Classic hosted by the University of South Carolina.

The Boilermakers fired a second-round 307, 11 strokes over their first-round score of 296. Purdue is tied with Vanderbilt at 603. Duke leads the event with an even-par 576.

Senior Andrea Makauskas leads the Boilermakers after a two-day total of 149. She is tied for 13th place overall. Senior Caroline Laurens and sophomore Beth Hermes are both tied for 22nd place at seven-over par with two-day totals of 151.

Junior All-American candidate Kari Damron is tied for 33rd after carding a second-round 78. She has a two-day total of 153 and is nine over. Junior Heather Zielinski shot a second-round 77 and is tied for 54th place at 15 over par.

The Lady Gamecock Classic is the third event of the spring season for the Boilermakers. Purdue finished 15th in the TRW Regional Challenge and tied for second in the Central District Invitational in February.

The event is being held at the 5,996-yard, par-72 University Club. The final round begins on Sunday at 8 a.m. EST.
