WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team lost 6-1 to No. 13 Northwestern today.

Purdue head coach Mat Iandolo remains hopeful of the team's potential.

"Yesterday was such an emotional win that we came out a little flat today," Iandolo said. "We can't do that against a team of that caliber."

The Wildcats won the doubles point, but the duo of junior Melissa Iqbal and sophomore Lara Burgarello defeated Ruth Barnes and Andrea Yung 8-6 at the No. 3 position.

Purdue's only point came from freshman Shawna Zuccarini's victory.

"Zuccarini played a great match today, enough said," Iandolo said.

Zuccarini defeated Yung 7-6 (14-12), 6-4 at the No. 5 singles spot.

The Boilermakers will travel to Tempe, AZ to face No. 12 North Carolina on Friday, March 15 and No. 9 Arizona State on Saturday, March 16. The next home match will be on Thursday, March 21 against No. 18 Notre Dame
