WEST LAFAYETE, Ind. - No. 14 Purdue defeated Penn State, 21-17, in University Park. The Boilermakers conclude the regular season with a 15-5 overall record and a 4-4 Big Ten mark.
"Overall it was a great effort," said head coach Jessie Reyes. "The guys wrestled hard."
No. 3 Chris Fleeger pinned Justin Kast at 125, and No. 6 Jake Vercelli defeated Pat Cummins at heavyweight. No. 9 Ryan Lange defeated Todd Brennan with a tech fall.
"We have momentum going into the Big Ten," said Reyes. "Now we just need to go home and train and get ready for the Big Ten."
Purdue returns to action Friday, March 9, at the Big Ten Championships, hosted by the University of Illinois.
