Women's Golf Team In 14th Place After First Round Of TRW Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES, Calif. -- The Purdue women's golf fired a 313 to finish in 14th place after the first round of the TRW Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.

The Boilermakers ended Monday's round 29 strokes over par and trail tournament-leader Tulsa by 30 strokes for first place.

Purdue was led by junior Heather Zielinski who carded a first-round 75 and is currently tied for 16th place. Senior Caroline Laurens fired a 77 and is tied for 35th. Sophomore Beth Hermes is tied for 51st after a 79. Senior Andrea Makauskas notched an 82 and is tied for 77th. Junior Kari Damron carded an 84 and is tied for 84th.

The second round of the tournament resumes on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. EST. The Boilermakers will tee off at 12:40 p.m. EST and their progress can be tracked at www.golfstat.com. The three-round event will conclude on Wednesday.
