Final Stats

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - After upsetting No. 13 Notre Dame 4-3 in South Bend, No. 27 Kentucky traveled to Lafayette and defeated Purdue 7-0 at the Lafayette Sports Center today.

Head coach Mat Iandolo remains optimistic about the women's tennis team.

"We got beat by a better team today," Iandolo said. "We are getting close, but not we're not yet ready to beat a team of this caliber. The women have some things to work on before facing BYU in two weeks."

Two Purdue women's players battling the Lady Wildcats for points highlighted singles. Sophomore Gretchen Haynor split sets against No. 27 Carolina Mayorga. Mayorga defeated Haynor 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot. Freshman Shawna Zuccarini also faced a difficult challenge by winning the first set, but losing the next two against Leigh Bradwell 6-7, 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot.

The Boilermakers will compete again on Feb. 16 when they host No. 36 BYU.
