WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Darmetreis Kilgore scored a career-high 20 points, Maynard Lewis added 16 and Willie Deane 14 as Purdue beat Robert Morris 87-53 Saturday.
The Boilermakers (8-6) had lost two straight and four of their past six games, but a resurgent Kilgore allowed them to lead for most of the game.
Kilgore, a transfer from Tyler Junior College, entered the season with comparisons to former Boilermaker Glenn Robinson. He scored 16 in the season opener but has struggled to find his shot since, including a 1-for-11 three games ago against Southwest Missouri State.
Against the Colonials (3-8), Kilgore went 8-for-14, including half of his eight 3-point attempts. He scored 13 points in the first half to give the Boilermakers a 39-28 lead.
Purdue, playing its final non-conference game before starting the Big Ten season against Ohio State on Wednesday, led 42-32 two minutes into the second half and then went on a 32-12 run to lead by 30. Lewis scored seven straight points during one stretch.
John Allison scored 13 and Rodney Smith added 11 for Purdue, which shot 55 percent. The two combined for 16 rebounds.
Ricky Richburg, DaMarcus Ellis and Maurice Carter all scored 10 for Robert Morris. The Colonials shot 31 percent from the field, had 20 turnovers and were only 8-for-15 from the free-throw line.
The Boilermakers went on a 12-0 run in the first half to help open up a 39-21 lead, but Robert Morris scored the final seven points.
The only other time these schools played was in the first round of the 1983 NCAA Tournament.
