MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Purdue volleyball team fell 21-30, 19-30, 23-30 at Minnesota on Friday. The Boilermakers fall to 4-20 (1-14 Big Ten), while the Golden Gophers improve to 16-9 (9-7 Big Ten).
Purdue enjoyed an early 7-1 lead in Game 1, but let errors stop it from defeating the Gophers. The Boilermakers recorded 29 errors on 130 attempts to hit at a clip of .068. Sophomores Eryn Leach and Joanna Lowry both had 10 kills on the evening. Leach led Purdue with 5 blocks.
"Eryn did a nice job for us tonight both offensively and with her blocking," head coach Jeff Hulsmeyer said. "Blocking has been a key area that we've been working on with her. Tomorrow is a new day , and we'll have to serve aggressively and play solid defense against Iowa to be successful."
The Old Gold and Black will face Iowa on Saturday at 7 p.m. (CST). The match will be broadcast live on WAZY 1410 AM and www.purduesports.com
