Women's Golf Finishes In Sixth Place In Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Purdue women's golf team finished in sixth place in the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C. on Sunday. The Boilermakers fired a final-round 299 and moved up from their ninth place standing after the second round.

Senior Caroline Laurens led the Boilermakers on the weekend finishing at 14 over par. Laurens carded a final-round 75 and finished tied for 21st. Senior Andrea Makauskas fired a final-round 76 and finished tied for 27th at 15 over. Sophomore Beth Hermes recorded a 75 on Sunday to finish tied for 31st at 16 over. Junior Kari Damron shot a 78 to finish 19 over par and tied for 46th. Junior Heather Zielinski shot a final-round, team-low 73 and finished tied for 62nd at 22 over.

The Boilermakers, who shot the third lowest round on the day, trailed Big Ten foes Michigan State and Ohio State by two and six strokes respectively after the second round. The Buckeyes finished tied for seventh and the Spartans placed ninth.

The Paladin Invitational was the final fall tournament for the Boilermakers. Purdue will open the spring season on Feb. 11, when it plays in the TRW Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.
