AUBURN, Wash. - The Purdue women's golf team finished tied for 19th place after the final round of the NCAA Preview was rained out on Wednesday at the Washington National Golf Club, site of the 2002 NCAA Championships. Texas and Auburn both tied for the victory after carding a 591. Purdue finished with a 618.
Play was delayed on Tuesday and the second round was finished up on Wednesday morning. After the second round was completed, heavy rain forced the cancellation of the final round.
The Boilermakers, who were in 21st place after the first round, fired a 300 on Tuesday, improving their score by 18 strokes from Monday. Junior Kari Damron finished tied for 23rd place after carding a 150. Sophomore Beth Hermes placed 33rd with a score of 151. Senior Caroline Laurens fired a 157. Junior Heather Zielinski had a 160 and freshman Lissa Putnam shot a 175. Complete statistics can be found at www.golfstat.com.
