Women's Golf In 21st Place After First Round Of NCAA Fall Preview

AUBURN, Wash. - The Purdue women's golf team is in 21st place after firing an opening round 318 at the NCAA Fall Preview in Auburn, Wash on Monday.

The three-day event is being held at the Washington National Golf Club and is hosted by the University of Washington. The course is the home of this season's NCAA Championships which will be played from May 29-June 1, 2002.

Purdue was led by sophomore Beth Hermes who ended the first round tied for 63rd. She carded a 78 on the par-72 course. Junior Kari Damron, last year's NCAA Regional individual winner, fired a 79. Senior Caroline Laurens had a 79 and junior Heather Zelinski fired an 82. Freshman Lissa Putnam carded a 96.

Play resumes at 11 a.m. (EST), with a shotgun start.
