After one day of competition at the NCAA Championships, the Purdue women's golf team is tied for 16th place, just a collective 12 strokes out of the lead, after one round of play at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
Heather Zielinski is tied for 32nd with a three-over par 75, including three bogies and a birdie on the back nine. Kari Damron and Caroline Laurens are both one stroke behind Zielinski at 76, tied for 46th. Both Damron and Laurens each had two birdies on the back nine. Beth Hermes finished day one with a 76, with two birdies. Andrea Makauskas shot an 80 for the day.
Round two will be played tomorrow at the tournament, which is being hosted by Stetson University, and will continue through to Friday.
