The Purdue women's golf team has completed two rounds of play at the 2001 Big Ten Championships, and is sitting in sixth place overall. Round three will be played tomorrow at the Les Bolstad Course in Falcon, Heights, Minn., tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m.
After two rounds, the Boilermakers are nine strokes off the lead after a two-round score of 611. They finished with a round two score of 313.
"It was a tough day for the Boilermakers," head coach Devon Brouse said. "Tomorrow, we'll need some of our veterans to step up. We're looking forward to making a move to repeating as Big Ten champion."
Kari Damron is in sixth place overall after finishing at 149 with a team-best 75 for the second round. Andrea Makauskas remains in the top 20, tied for 17th with a two-round score of 154. Heather Zielinski cracked the top 20 with a 77 in the second round, leaving her score after two rounds at 155. Beth Hermes is tied for 35th with a score of 158 while Christy Rittenhouse is tied for 57th with a score of 165.
The Les Bolstad Course is a par-72 course with a total yardage of 5,979.
