Women's Golf Places Fifth At Betsy Rawls Classic

The Purdue women's golf team finished in third place, as it completed play at the Betsy Rawls Golf Classic in Austin, Texas

"We didn't have quite the weather we had in the previous two rounds, but our girls hung in there," head coach Devon Brouse said. "We're proud of Kari Damron and her overall performance. We've seen some great improvement from our whole team and are looking forward to our next tournament to see more improvement."

As a team, the Boilermakers shot 303 for the third round, fourth best of all 12 teams. Kari Damron shot a par 72 to finish second overall. Heather Zielinski and Andrea Makauskas finished tied for 19th overall. Zielinski shot a 79 while Makauskas, who competed as an individual, shot a 77 for the third round. Freshman Beth Hermes also shot a 77 for the third round to finish 22nd overall. Also representing the Boilermakers were Caroline Laurens and Christy Rittenhouse. Laurens shot a 75, her best round of the tournament, to finish 31st overall. Rittenhouse finished play with an 87 to finish 54th overall.
