WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue wrestling team won seven straight bouts to defeat Northwestern 26-9 on Friday night. With the win, the Boilermakers improved to 9-6 (3-5 Big Ten), while the Wildcats fell to 4-12-1 (0-7 Big Ten).
174-pounder Ryan Lange began the winning tangent when he defeated Andrew Curran 15-5. At 184 pounds, Jared Williams earned a 9-3 victory over Brendan Curran. Jon Bush won the decision in the 197-pound category with a 14-0 shutout of Will Marcantel.
Jason Silverstein improved to 18-6 on the year with a win over Rob Potashnick. Rookie Brad Harper recorded his 14th win of the year with a 4-1 decision over Ryan Cumbee.
The Boilermakers will travel to Eastern Illinois on Sunday.
