WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - The Harlem Globetrotters began a new winning streak Wednesday night, beating Purdue 74-65 in the final game of their three-game competitive tour.
Defending NCAA champion Michigan State ended the Globetrotters' 1,270-game winning streak Monday night with a 72-68 victory.
Joe Adkins led the Globetrotters with 20 points, and was 10-of-10 from the free-throw line. Ernsest Brown added 12 points.
Willie Deane, a transfer from Boston College, led Purdue with 24 points, and John Allison had 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Globetrotters used an 11-0 run to take a 44-33 lead five minutes into the second half. Purdue closed to 55-51 with 4:36 remaining on free throws by Joe Marshall, but the Globetrotters took their biggest lead at 66-55 with 1:41 remaining.
