WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's cross country team placed second at the Indiana Intercollegiates in Bloomington, Ind., today. The Boilermakers totaled 38 points, just four behind champion Ball State (34).

"The result is a little bittersweet because we came in wanting to win," Purdue coach Ben Paolillo said. "We're disappointed in losing, but we're pleased with how we competed. Ball State just ran a little better than us today."

Senior Ann Stechschulte paced Purdue with a third-place time of 18:09.74. Sophomore Teresa Kamleiter placed sixth (18:26.42), while sophomore Jessie Wilder (18:38.49, 8th) and junior Barbara Wenger (18:47.00, 10th) turned in top-10 performances as well.

Junior Heather Hartshorne finished 11th, and was followed by senior Nicole Nigh (14th), freshman Stephanie Lynn (32nd), junior Julie Sennott (39th), and junior Amy Zagrocki (85th).
