Women's Tennis Falls To No. 25 Ohio State

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team fell to the No. 25 Ohio State Buckeyes 5-2 Saturday in Columbus. The Boilermakers fall to 8-11 (2-5 Big Ten), while Ohio State improves to 13-6 (6-1 Big Ten).

In doubles action, freshman Melissa Iqbal and sophomoreErika Quebe picked up an 8-3 victory over Michelle Matko and Claudia Castro at the No. 3 spot. The No. 43 duo of Kristy Dascoli and Monica Rincon defeated No. 19 seniorsJennifer Embry and Shannon Taheny 8-4.

The Boilers claimed two victories in singles action at the No. 5 and 6 spots. JuniorLisa Walgenbach handed Laura Maloney a 6-1, 6-4 loss, while sophomoreLynsey Fick knocked off Taryn Bowen 6-2, 6-1. Purdue will continue road action with a Sunday match against Penn State.
