Boilermaker Women's Golf Team in 12th Place at Arizona Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf team finds itself in 12th place after day one of the Arizona Invitational after posting a team score of 12-over-par 300. Stanford (4-under-par 284) leads the team competition followed by Duke (1-over-par 289). Third-place Arizona (2-over pare 290), fourth-place Arizona State (3-over-par 291) and San Jose State (4-over-par 292) round out the top five. The tournament is being held at the Randolph Park Golf Club in Tucson, a par-70, 6,123-yard layout.

Leading the Boilers are sophomore Andrea Makauskas and freshman Heather Zielinski who both shot a 2-over-par 74, tying them for 26th place. Senior Lisa Kenley is tied for 41st place, after shooting a 3-over par 75 today. Fellow senior Stacy Orschell is tied for 60th place (5-over-par 77) and freshman Kari Damron goes into day two tied for 69th place (6-over-par 77).

The individual race is being led by Duke's Beth Bauer (5-under-par 67) she enjoys a one-shot lead over Stanford's Kim Rowton, who is in second with a 4-under-par 68. San Jose State's Jessica Krantz is in third place scoring a 3-under-par 69. Arizona State's Miriam Nagl (2-under-par 70) and Texas' Jessica Reese (2-under-par 70) are tied for fourth place.

Day two of the Arizona Invitational resumes tomorrow with an 8 a.m. MST start.
