Purdue Dominates Murray State

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Senior guard Jaraan Cornell had 15 points and Maynard Lewis added 13 as Purdue defeated Murray State 95-67 Monday night at Mackey Arena.

Purdue (9-4) allowed Murray State (8-4) to take the lead only twice during the game - both times were in the opening five minutes.

Greg McQuay and Rodney Smith both chipped in 12 points for Purdue.

The Boilermakers held Murray State to 39 percent from the field and 21 percent from behind the arc. The Boilermakers averaged 63 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Racers 43-23.

Purdue pounded the Racers in the first half with a 22-point run for a 29-7 lead until Murray State's Ray Cunningham scored a 3-pointer at the 7:26 mark.

The Boilermakers continued to score and turned over the ball three times in four possessions. The Racers cut the lead to nine points with thirty seconds left in the half.

Purdue's Mike Robinson scored right before the buzzer to give the Boilermakers a 41-30 lead at the half as a crowd of 11,699 fans went wild.

Murray State's senior guard Aubrey Reese led the Racers with 18 points. Cunningham posted 17.

Cunningham scored 13 of the Racers' points in the first half.
