WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf team finished 15th out of 18 teams on Wednesday at the SMU/OSU Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif. The Boilers were led by junior Stacy Orschell who tied for 19th place with a tally of 17-over-par 230 at the Palos Verdes Country Club (par 71). Senior Angela Blythe also had a strong showing for the Boilers with a score of 240 (+27) to tie for 58th place. Georgia captured the team title with a three-day score of 901 (+49) and Jennifer Rosales of Southern California won medalist honors with a three-over par (216). Purdue freshman Andrea Makauskas came on strong at the end to finish her first collegiate tournament in a tie for 64th place at 242 (+29). Makauskas fired the lowest single round for Purdue with a 74 (+3) today. Also getting action for the Old Gold and Black were freshman Christy Rittenhouse and junior Lisa Kenley who fired totals of 250 and 253, respectively. Purdue will now travel to Tucson, Ariz. for the Wildcat Intercollegiate to be hosted by Arizona University on Feb. 22-24.
