No. 33 Boilermakers Blank Louisville, 7-0

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The 33rd-ranked Purdue men's tennis team captured a 7-0 victory over Louisville on March 6 in Louisville, Ky. The Boilers improve to 8-1 overall (1-0 Big Ten) on the season, while the Cardinals fall to 5-7.

"I am pleased with how the match went today," Purdue coach Tim Madden said. "Our team is on a roll, and our confidence level is higher then ever right now." Purdue won all singles matches in the win. Senior Jamie Gordon improved his spring record to 7-1 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Alex Sivertsen at the No. 1 position, while sophomore Jason Marshall improved to 5-2 with the 6-4, 6-2 win over Chris Steel in the No. 2 slot. Other singles victories came from senior Derek Myers, junior Cade Lutz, freshman Derek Miller and junior Evan Hays in the No. 3,4,5 and 6 positions, respectively. The duo of sophomore Dan Swan and Gordon received their first loss on the season at the No. 2 doubles slot. Swan and Gordon fell 8-6 to Steel and Kane Easter, and now stand at 7-1 in spring action. The pair of Myers and Miller defeated Brent McCombe and Scott Schutzman 8-3, at No. 1, while freshman Laith Al-Agba and Marshall conquered Sivertsen and Turto Kujundzic 8-5, at No. 3.
