WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Third-ranked Purdue tied a team record with its 10th straight victory as Stephanie White-McCarty scored 20 points Tuesday night in a 76-46 win over Northwestern.
White-McCarty moved closer to second place on the school's career scoring list. She has 1,745 points and needs just two more to move past Joy Holmes. MaChelle Joseph set the school record of 2,405 points from 1989-92.
Purdue (12-1, 4-0 Big Ten) is off to the best start in school history, having topped the mark of 11-1 set during the 1990-91 season.
The Wildcats were led by Megan Chawansky with 14 points.
Purdue scored the final nine points in the first half to take a 31-25 lead. The Boilermakers then outscored Northwestern 22-3 to start the second half.
After Northwestern's Tami Sears converted a three-point play to pull the Wildcats within 33-28, Purdue scored 20 straight points. White-McCarty had scored seven and Camille Cooper added six during the run.
After hitting 32 percent from the field in the first half, the Boilermakers regrouped to hit 15-of-24 shots in the second half. Meanwhile, Purdue's fullcourt pressure forced Northwestern into 17 second-half turnovers and 29 percent shooting.
Northwestern led 11-2 with 13:14 remaining in the first half after Dana Leonard's 3-pointer.
