WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team took 11th place Saturday at the Pepsi Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C. The Boilermakers shot a 27-over par in the 25 team, 54-hole tournament hosted by East Carolina University at the Bradford Creek Golf Course (Par 72, 6976 yards).
Ryan Miller led the way for the Boilermakers tying for fifteenth overall. The sophomore recorded scores of 72, 73 and 75 on his way to a two-day total of 219. Freshman Lee Williamson carded the best round of the tournament for Purdue, shooting a one-under 71 in his final round to finish 221, tied for 24th. Ryan Cate finished in a four-way tie for 52nd. The junior shot a 225, recording 75 in each round of the competition. Sophomore Chad Jones and senior Colby Huffman finished tied for 67th and 108th, shooting 227 and 235, respectively.
Coastal Carolina won the tournament, shooting a five-under 859 to win by five strokes over runnerup East Carolina. Maryland finished third shooting an 876 with Campbell and James Madison tying for fourth at 881. Georgia Southern rounded out the top five with a final score of 882.
East Carolina's Scott Campbell took the individual title shooting a 13-under par 203. Campbell won by two strokes over Coastal Carolina's Jacob Wilner who shot a 205.
