ATHENS, Ohio (AP) - Third-ranked Purdue took the lead with its offense and turned it into a rout with its defense.

Katie Douglas and Stephanie White-McCarty each scored 17 points and the Boilermakers used an 18-4 run to take control in a 92-52 victory over winless Ohio University on Saturday.

"In the second half, we turned up our defense and then we were able to score off our defense," Purdue coach Carolyn Peck said.

Ukari Figgs added 16 points and Kelly Komara had 12 for the Boilermakers (6-1).

The only lead for Ohio (0-6) came on Lisa Hindenlag's jumper with 13:37 left in the opening half, putting the Bobcats ahead 14-13.

"I thought our team followed our game plan pretty well in the first half," Ohio coach Marsha Reall said.

"Ohio played us tough - especially in the first half," Peck said. "Their pressure gave us some trouble early."

The Bobcats' lead only lasted 59 seconds. Purdue answered with an 8-0 run with Douglas, White-McCarty and Komara each scoring two points.

"They do a great job of rising to the occasion," Reall said.

The Boilermakers led 38-28 with 1:55 left in the first half, then scored eight of the next 10 points to take a 46-30 halftime lead. Douglas then scored four points in a 10-2 run to start the second half to build the lead to 56-32.

Purdue's biggest lead was 86-42.

"It was a rough second half," Reall said.

The Boilermakers committed 22 turnovers but shot 53 percent from the field (31-of-58) to Ohio's 27 percent (19-of-71) and dominated the boards 58-32.

"After we got going in the second half, we got a balanced attack from everybody - which we will need as we continue to move on throughout the year," Peck said.

Amber Bunce had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Bobcats, while Danielle Longnecker also scored 12 points.

Ohio was 1-for-11 from 3-point range.
