GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The 13th-ranked Florida men's tennis team (5-0) lost the doubles point for the first time this season, but rallied in singles for a 5-2 victory over 33rd-ranked Purdue Saturday afternoon at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex. With the loss, the Boilers fall for the first time this season, dropping their record to 6-1 on the season.

"Our preparation for this match was the best it has been this year, " Purdue coach Tim Madden said. "I was very pleased with the guys for taking care of their physical and mental preparation coming in. The energy was excellent. Unfortunately we lost to a better team today."

Purdue opened the match by claiming the doubles point with convincing victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Senior Cris James and sophomore Jason Marshall upset Florida's 30th-ranked duo of Alex Hur and Justin O'Neal, 8-3, at number two and senior Jamie Gordon and sophomore Dan Swan dropped Trey Adcock and Dylan Mann, 8-5.

"We really took it to them in doulbes," Madden said. "We need to keep improving our overall performance, but I was very happy with the doubles effort. I thought we won the No. 2 and No. 3 matches decisively. The communication was excellent and the energy level was the highest it has been all year. "

In singles action, the Boilermakers were only able to win one singles match, as junior Cade Lutz defeated Trey Adcock 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 at No. 5.
