WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's tennis team remained perfect in the Big Ten Conference with a 4-3 victory over Ohio State on Sunday. With the win, the 47th-ranked Boilermakers improve to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
The Boilers came out ready for action against the Buckeyes, as they took the doubles point with victories by senior Derek Myers and freshman Laith Al-Agba at No.1 doubles and senior Jamie Gordon and sophomore Dan Swan in the No. 2 slot. The top two Purdue tandems are each 3-0 in Big Ten action. In the battle at No. 1 doubles, Myers/Al-Agba ousted the Scarlet and Gray's team of Andrew Carlson and John Johansen in a closely contested 9-8 battle won by the Old Gold & Black.
In singles action, Purdue recorded three wins from the top of the lineup from Gordon, Myers, and sophomore Jason Marshall to seal the victory. In the No. 1 position, Gordon, playing in the place of the injured Cris James, won a grueling three-set affair over OSU's Chris Porter 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.
