EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Ukari Figgs had a season-high 27 points, and Stephanie White-McCarty added 25 as second-ranked Purdue remained unbeaten in the Big Ten by topping Michigan State 80-66 Sunday.
Purdue (19-1, 11-0 Ten) routed the Spartans 70-47 Jan. 15 in West Lafayette, Ind., but had more trouble this time.
The Boilermakers led 38-32 at the half, and quickly expanded the advantage to 10 points. But Kristen Rasmussen scored the next seven points to start an 11-2 run that pulled Michigan State (11-10, 5-6) within 44-43 with 15 minutes to play.
That's when Figgs and White-McCarty took over, combining for 12 points in a 14-0 run that put the game away. White-McCarty finished the surge with back-to-back 3-pointers.
Michigan State's offensive struggles in the streak were summed up when Rasmussen's layup attempt stuck between the rim and the backboard and had to be popped loose by a Spartan cheerleader's megaphone.
Rasmussen led the Spartans with 21 points, and Becky Cummings added 17. But Maxann Reese, less than two days removed from her school-record 41 points against Iowa, had just five.
Michigan State led for much of the first half before Figgs and White-McCarty combined for 11 points in a 13-1 Boilermaker run that helped them to their lead at intermission.
