WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Chris Brown and junior Krissy Liphardt of the indoor track and field team have been named the Purdue Athletes of the Month for February. The award is presented by WLFI-TV, Twin City Dodge-Chrysler-Plymouth and Gimlet Leadership Honorary.

Brown led the Boilermakers to a second-place finish at the Big Ten Indoor Championships during the month of February. He won the 35lb weight throw, shattering the Big Ten and facility records and upping his NCAA automatic bid mark to 71-11.50. Brown also won the shot put with a throw of 18.96/62-2.50, becoming Purdue's only athlete to win two events.

Liphardt played a big role in Purdue's first-ever Big Ten Indoor Championship title. Purdue, which was in first place with 60 points at the end of the first day of competition, got 10 points from Liphardt in Sunday's 400-meter dash final (54.89). She also anchored both the Boilermakers' winning 4x400-meter relay team, which finished in 3:42.91, and distance medley relay team, which posted a time of 11.45.24.
