WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue erupted for seven goals, including five in a 14-minute span, to cruise past Chicago State, 7–0, Thursday night at Folk Field while setting a new attendance record at 4,111 fans.
The Boilermakers dominated from start to finish, outshooting the Cougars 53–3, a new single-game match record, and holding a 24–0 advantage in shots during the opening 45 minutes. Purdue also earned 14 corner kicks while limiting Chicago State to one.
Purdue opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Jaiden Anderson found the back of the net for her third goal of the season, later earning her second brace in back-to-back matches. The Boilermakers continued to pressure the Cougars throughout the opening half, before Rosa Maalouf doubled the lead in the 40th minute.
Maalouf struck again just after halftime, scoring in the 46th minute to complete her brace and push Purdue's advantage to 3–0. Gabriela Angulo added another goal in the 52nd minute, on Purdue's first penalty kick of the year, before the Boilers' offense exploded for three goals in less than three minutes.
Megan Santa Cruz scored in the 58th minute, followed by Zoe Miles just 42 seconds later. Anderson then found the back of the net for the second time at the 59:31 mark, giving Purdue a 7–0 lead.
The Boilermakers continued to create opportunities throughout the remainder of the match, recording 29 second-half shots.
Purdue's defense held the Cougars without a shot in the opening half and allowed just three attempts for the match. Chicago State did not record its first shot until the 61st minute.
The seven-goal performance marked a dominant offensive showing for the Boilermakers, and the first-time in program history that the Boilers scored seven goals in consecutive matches. The previous high was set in 2002, with four goals in victories over Buffalo and Oakland.
